Machine Learning for Computer Systems
The standard nine-week offering has a midterm and a final. Short offerings (for example the three-week Paris term) have a single combined exam on the last or second-to-last meeting; see the term page linked from the course page for the date.
Each exam is in class and designed to be finished in about 30–40 minutes (the
combined exam, about 45–50), but the whole class period is available. Expect
mostly short-answer questions, some yes/no-with-explanation, and a few multiple
choice, drawn from what was actually covered in class (the
agenda for the term is the record), the hands-on activities, and
the assignments. Past exams, with solutions, are in midterm/
and final/.
Closed book and closed notes, except for one 8.5×11-inch sheet of paper with handwritten notes (both sides permitted). No electronic devices, additional pages, or other materials. This policy is set in advance and is printed on the exam.
The exam is drafted with the prompt in prompts/generate-exam.md (and the per-exam variants next to it)
from the agenda and the past exams, then edited by hand. You have all of those
inputs, so you can generate as many practice exams as you like the same way.
